Since its founding, the Rincon Institute has built a record of conservation achievement spanning land protection, land development, environmental education, community engagement and regional partnerships.

Founded in the 1990s to assist in the development of the Rocking K Master Planned Community, with an emphasis on monitoring the preservation of designated natural open space within the project, as well as providing environmental education and connections to Saguaro National Park and the greater Rincon Valley community.
Partnered with Saguaro National Park, University of Arizona, U.S. Geological Survey, and Bureau of Land Management to support federal grants for restoration of important creek watersheds.
Consistently supported the weekly Rincon Valley Farmers and Artisans Market and the promotion of arid-adapted, locally sourced fresh foods.
Secured and maintained multiple conservation easements on key parcels of southern Arizona land.
Worked with Vail Unified School District and supported a student-led native plant nursery.
Engaged with Rocking K Development, Pima County, and local environmental, conservation, historic, and cultural groups to provide input into policies that inform and support balanced land stewardship.
Participated in regional community gatherings, providing environmental education.
Established a youth volunteer program.
Monitored Rocking K construction sites, monitored native plant preservation and salvage, and prepared riparian area mitigation plans.
Contributed to Friends of Saguaro National Park for the Visitor Center and the Education Ramada.
Assisted in Rocking K neighborhood theming and street naming to affirm the history, culture, and rich natural resources of the Rincon Valley region.
Created a lending library of resource materials for residents of Rocking K.
Coordinated with Saguaro National Park on invasive species education and eradication efforts.
